Crazier - Faith In God Or Extra Terrestrials?

What Is The Relationship Between God and UFOs?

.
.
Have UFOs Played A Role In Religion?.
.
Dave of The11thhour, and Palmer Blevins each wrote post yesterday commenting on my recent posting of a UFO photograph which I took of a brightly illuminated area in the sky over west Springfield, Illinois on November 18th, 2006.

Both Dave, and Palmer expressed a degree of concern for me. First I want to assure Dave, Palmer, and all my other readers that I feel perfectly fine. Posting photos of UFOs doesn't imply one is insane, or that one is heading towards insanity.

Depending upon which values you assign to the variables of the Drake Equation either life on Earth is essentially alone in the Milky Way Galaxy, the Milky Way is burgeoning with life, or the truth falls somewhere in between.

A fact to consider is that the Sun, and its Solar System isn't as ancient as most of the 400,000,000 stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. This suggest that life, possessing intelligence matching or exceeding that of human beings, may have arisen within the galaxy billions of years earlier than on Earth.

Some Stars Are Billions Of Years Older Than Our Second Generation Sun

There may be a critical point in the evolution of any technologically advanced civilization in which interstellar space travel becomes practical for humanoid life forms, or in which carbon based biological creatures hand the time consuming duty of space travel over to intelligent robots. In either case it would seem likely that Earth would be an interesting place to visit, and study.

We might not be alone.

Is Our Discussion on UFOs Really a Discussion on God?

.
Super Nature Versus Super Technology

Despite the fact that thousands of people have claimed to have seen strange aerial phenomena often referred to as UFOs, and that some of those sightings may represent encounters with "alien technology", people still seem to find it easier to believe in supernatural beings rather than super technological beings.

This bias towards the supernatural is somewhat perplexing in an age in which humans have seen so much material progress based upon science, and technology. One might ask if there's any proof for the supernatural, but when one does one is often called hatefully a skeptic or an atheist!

Beliefs About gods

  • Omnipotent
  • Omniscient
  • Just
  • Good
  • Benevolent
  • Wrathful
  • Concerned in the fate of humankind
.
.
Beliefs About ETs

  • Technologically Advanced
  • Great Speed
  • Great Accuracy
  • Great Power
  • Great Force
  • Possibly Trans dimensional
  • Possibly Psychical
  • Ethically Advanced
  • Possibly Beneficial to Humanity
  • Possibly a Threat to Humanity
  • Concerned About Humanity
.
.
In many ways humankind's perceptions on God, and Extra Terrestrials intersect. Both God, and ETs are seen as vastly more powerful than human beings in being able to shape the fate of humanity. While God is seen as possessing supernatural powers capable of transforming time, matter, and energy as God desires, Extra Terrestrials are seen as possessing super technological powers capable of traversing time, and shaping and changing time and energy as desired.

These greater capabilities possessed by God, and ETs are seen as both a threat to humanity, and a benefit to humanity. Remaining in God's, and ET's favor is seen as important to the fate of humanity. Both God, and ETs are seen as concerned about humanity, and playing a role in the fate of humanity.

Both ETs, and God are seen a desirous of a belief in their existence. True believers view their relationship, or potential relationship as unique, and special, and in some way beneficial to them in a variety of ways - including the realization of a hidden, and special truth which once accepted will enable the faithful to achieve a higher level of consciousness.

JP,

I did not intend to say that you were insane or heading towards insanity...rather, my concern is you being silenced or probed for revealing the ugly truth about the recent UFO phenomena.

Thanks Palmer, It's good to know I have your confidence.

Actually I wouldn't mind being insane at times.

It might dull the ache or "reality".

I, however, think you are CUH-Wazy! But you've known that for 35 years.

Um, that picture is majorly subliminally sexual. Is that from your private collection?

I never thought you were insane.

As you know, I have seen a few things, some of which I have blogged about. As much as I like to have rock solid explanations for everything, I do realize there are somethings that are beyond our science. As a matter of fact, I saw something one January evening in downtown Springfield that is beyond explanation. I considered trying to find a cop to look at it too, but changed my mind out of fear. Not fear of the thing, but fear of what might be thought about me, or might become of me, at the hands of someone less open minded. I'm proud of you for talking about this stuff.

Marie, Palmer, and Dave, thanks for your comments.

It may have been better to introduce the post in another way.

Your story sounds most interesting Marie, you have all of our curiosity.

I speak for the group, when I say we won't criticize you too fiercely if you share your story.
