This one is of an old friend, Dave "De Wing". Dave was an old buddy of mine way back in the 1970s - when this photo was taken. Dave was a strange lad who liked to climb TV antenna towers as high as he could and then jump. We used to call him "The Wing" because of his obsession. This photograph was taken north west of Springfield, Illinois.

O.K., I must have remembered this part incorrectly - Dave never jumped off antennas {pause} he flew off them. Ka Ching!
O.K., O.K., that's a lie too, but it would have made for a better story if he had. He'd have some pretty bad knee problems about now, but still - interesting blogging material.
By the way, me, and my friends used to jump off the roof of our house when I was a kid. Single story, but it still smarted. Wonder I ever survived my youth.

Mr. JP,
How long have you lived in Jerome, or in the Greater Springfield area?
Just wondering...
Thank you for maintaining your weblog, and keeping it current, all this time.
I wish I could still do that!
I know those dudes. And you are lying about one of them.

The Sun in the sky. To the north west it shone. Beamed down forth its eye upon you up alone.
It's Summer in a moment captured and frozen. As we look back upon it with warm heart'd notions.
You forever up high in your perilous flight. The watcher on ground captured color and light.
Now we are old, recalling it fondly. Moments long gone, that held youth so blindly.
Our leap from that moment to this one seems so clear. We call it our life, and hold it so dear.
Yet it was only a moment, really nothing at all. Our part in this venture exceedingly small.
So let us go forth with wisdom and grace. We've little time left here in the place.
Let's jump off together from places on high, and take flight to a future past that tells no lies.

Lived in the Springfield area most of my life, but not all.
Thank you for your kind words of support.
I blog because it is fun. Sometimes I'm so exhausted I can hardly focus my eyes, and I'll rush over to the PC, and post, because it is just that fun.
To me, that is the key. Find something you're really interested in, and write about it.
This was fun and an odd take on Your posting - I like it! :-)
Thank You for sharing!

I have been told I get a bit too serious, which is probably true.
