A Night Like This

- A Night Like This -
by JP

It was a night
Like this
Long ago.

A night like this
When
I saw its glow.

Beyond the trees
With trembling knees
I knew
I must not go.

It was a night
Like that
Beyond the trees.

A light like that
Took me with ease.

Dark misty
Tones.
Deep shadows
Grown.

But
I had to
Know.
I just had to
Know.

And now my
Bones rest
Where they
Please.

Beyond the
Trees.
Beyond
the
Glow.

Now
My soul
too
Floats
Upon the breeze.

Among the
Trees
Within
The Glow.

Did C.I.A. Kill 2006 Hurricane Season?

Ominous Predictions

The 2006 hurricane season was rather unusual. Only a year before had two major Hurricanes (i.e., Katrina, and Rita) attack the gulf coast creating historic levels of damage. The economic, and political repercussions of the 2005 hurricane season was unlike anything anyone had seen before. Global warming became an economic issue which directly effected the nation's economy. Insurance companies began to discuss global warming in real economic impact. The nation began to wonder if the government was prepared to handle another round of natural disasters.

At the outset of the 2006 hurricane season predictions of yet another severe hurricane season were made. In fact the severity, and number, or hurricane's striking the U.S. was expected to be worse than in 2005.

Then nothing happened.

Election Year Hurricane Season

One can only imagine what type of devastation a series of large hurricanes would have brought to the U.S. just one year after Katrina. Each new hurricane would have cost billions of dollars in damage to coastal communities, damaging the economy just before the November 2006 Mid Term elections. Hurricane Katrina had shown how politically damaging being unprepared for disasters could be. The 2005 hurricane season had also shown how damaging denying global warming could be. Would FEMA, and Homeland Defense have been prepared for another of severe hurricanes so soon after the 2005 hurricane season? If it wasn't who would have been blamed? How would public's perceptions of the Bush Administration been changed in light of another round of disasters? How would this predicted back to back round of hurricanes changed public perception of the issue of global warming?

We'll never know.

Perception Equals Reality

Most people believe that weather is the result of natural, and random, phenomena. Some are beginning to believe that humans have inadvertently altered climate, and weather, to some degree through pollution, and global warming.

Almost no one believes that humans possess the technical means of altering weather.

It is precisely this widespread belief in human being's inability to alter weather which would enable such a program to be developed covertly.

Can Weather Be Modified?

If most climate scientist were polled it is doubtful that a majority would reveal any belief that climate could be changed easily using existing technical means. Ask most meteorologist if they believe that weather could readily be altered, and most would chuckle. Current perception by those most informed about weather, and climate would likely characterize weather modification as futuristic.

But what technical means would need to exist in the future which don't currently that would enable modification of weather?

Global Dimming Cools Surface Areas

While much talk has centered around the role of global warming upon climate little discussion, until recently, has been made about the role of global dimming. Global dimming is a process by which surface areas are cooled as a result of particulate matter in the atmosphere. Dust, and pollutants within clouds reduce the amount of infrared radiation (heat) which reaches the surface below. Most readers will recall the sudden drop of temperature which takes place immediately after a cloud hovers overhead on an otherwise sunny day. Clouds cool the Earth's surface by filtering infrared radiation, and also by reflecting sunlight back into space.

All Clouds Not Created Equal

All clouds do not alter the path of the sun's radiation equally. High altitude clouds (i.e., cirrus) reflect larger amounts of the sun's heat back into space than lower altitude clouds associated with thunderstorms (i.e., cumulus). While cumulus clouds soak up solar radiation, they also reduce the amount of heat reaching the surface below. Recent studies have shown that the amount of heat, and light reaching the earth's surface is significantly reduced through global dimming.

While earth's temperature has been on the rise from global warming, pollution has reduced temperatures around cities through global dimming. Human being's impact upon weather, and climate has been profound.

Doping Clouds With Carbon Dust - Soot

If it were possible to gauge the effect of a given amount of pollution upon surface temperatures it might be possible to create a dataset upon which computer simulations could be based. Once simulations were created it might be possible to predict what effect would follow the deliberate addition of soot to the atmosphere might have. Such simulations would demand large amounts of computation time on very fast computers (super computers).

What would the effect be if a large area (continental) of cloud cover were deliberately doped with carbon dust? Could the temperature of a very large surface area be reduced?

What effect would carbon dust doping of large areas of cloud cover have upon the temperature of land, and water surfaces?

To what practical effect would such temperature reductions be put?

Creating Clouds The Old Fashioned Way - Jet Contrails

On any given day over the U.S. thousands of high flying aircraft cross the sky. These aircraft often leave a reminder of their flight path in the form of long streaks of cloud called contrails.

Contrails by the thousands seed otherwise cloudless skies thus starting huge ranges of cloud cover which move in an easterly direction across the continental U.S.

Some accusations have been made that by slightly altering the ingredients to aviation fuel that significantly greater numbers of long lasting contrails can be produced.

It is obvious that in order to dope clouds with carbon dust (soot) that it is first necessary to have clouds, and therefore developing a means of increasing cloud production would be important to any weather modification program.

Stealth Aircraft Could Be Used For Cloud Doping

Once an initial range of cloud cover has been created there remains the task of increasing the particulate level with that cloud cover. Most of my readers will recall noticing how some clouds seem darker than others, and that as darker clouds pass overhead they usually cool the surface much more effectively than less dense clouds. The relationship between particulate levels, surface temperatures is clear from an observational standpoint.

Stealth aircraft could easily crisscross large areas of cloud cover without detection during the night spraying carbon dust into clouds. The effect would be to increase dimming, and reduce surface temperatures.

Water Surface Temperatures Drive Hurricanes

Hurricane season typically last for several months. Hurricanes which hit the U.S. obtain their energy from solar energy which is stored in the uppermost surface areas of the ocean, and Gulf of Mexico. Reducing surface water temperatures for even a short period during the hurricane season might be possible through directed surface dimming. Any such program would cost hundreds of millions of dollars, would involve at the very least dozens of aircraft for several months, and could only be carried out covertly using stealth aircraft.

Would It Be Worth The Cost?

The magnitude of damage caused by a string of major hurricanes would have totaled in the hundreds of billions of dollars. An advanced covert weather modification program running a months long operation to cool a small portion of the Gulf of Mexico, or Mid Atlantic may cost several billion dollars, but would be economically justified.

Implications

There certainly would be implications. The insurance industry assumes that hurricanes are natural disasters, other nations assume that droughts caused by a lack of precipitation due to a lack of hurricanes is an act of god. International treaties to which the U.S. is a signatory make it clear that altering the weather to this extent would be illegal. Certainly there is a need to way the cost of modify weather in light of economic, and political considerations, but it must also be kept in mind that the effects of global warming can not be covered up with global dimming for much longer.

The broader issue of man's impact upon climate must be addressed, and any such covert program employed to mitigate the effect of global warming must not be abused for political ends.

Covert History - Can You Remember?

Does anyone remember the colder than usual days in late August?
The colder than usual days in the first weeks of September?
The darker than usual clouds which filled the Midwestern skies in 2006?
Whole days of cloud cover in which the clouds were very dark, but it never rained, and the temperatures were very cold. The winds were coming from the northwest heading to the gulf states. Thick, cold air, moving toward the gulf at the beginning of hurricane season.
Does anyone remember?

Are Dreams Messages From The Future?

What Are Dreams?

November 22nd Revision

Books have been written on the subject of dreams. Dreams are not a new subject for scientific research, but science is a relatively new approach in the accumulation of knowledge. I argue that one doesn't need to Ph.D. to offer an opinion on the subject of dreams. Poets, and philosophers have been offering up their opinions on the subject of dreams for a very long time, and so I too will offer my ideas on the subject to my readers. I hope not to stray too far from a rational, and scientifically verifiable set of opinions.

Brain As Computer Or Tachyonic Transceiver?

I believe the way human experience is perceived falls into two basic camps.

There are those who believe that the brain, encased within the cranium, receives only those signals which are provided to it via neural pathways. This perception of the brain sees the brain as a neural chemical computer that processes data fed to it via hardwired neural inputs.

There are others who believe that the brain (the self) connects (perceives) to an "outside reality" by means that bipass the five sensory pathways.

Prescientific Ideation Related To The Nature Of Human Perception

Ideation related to the self's (brain's) connection to a "greater reality" is found in cultures throughout the modern world, and in history. This relationship is described as "Spirituality". Despite the various means of describing the relationship between self, and the "greater reality" many common themes appear to exist.

The Self, and Its Connection To Space, Time & Energy

Prescientific descriptions of the relationship between the self, space, time, matter, and energy are described by religion, and pre-religions.

Prescientific ideations defining the self's relationship to a "greater reality" include:

  • Gods
  • Spirits
  • Demons
  • Angels
  • Ghost
  • Visions
  • Prophecy
  • Dreams
  • Magical Realms
  • Magical Creatures
  • Magical Forces

How is prescientific ideation connected to dreaming?

In each example of prescientific ideation, listed above, "belief" (i.e., a subset of thought) plays a vital role. Belief, or disbelief, in a god, magic belief, etc., forms the basis (matrix, or filter) of the relationship between the self, and the "greater reality".

Thought itself is the pivotal process by which the self perceives itself into existence (sentience). I think therefore I exist. Thought allows the self to question its relationship with the "greater reality".

Telepathy - A Common Theme Of Prescientific Beliefs

The relationship between thought, and the "greater reality" is given a special role in prescientific ideation. Most prescientific belief systems advocate that the self is connected to the "greater reality" in a manner not entirely dependent upon "classical channels".

Telepathy Dependent Phenomena

  • Prayer
  • Worship
  • Communion
  • Love
  • Reverence
  • Entrainment
  • Meditation

Commonalities Subordinate Differences

Despite differences which exist within prescientific ideations relating to the self's connection with the "greater reality" commonalities appear. One such commonality is telepathy as a means of connection.

Prescientific Characteristics Of Telepathy

  • Trans Time Conduit
  • Trans Space Conduit
  • Biological
  • Metaphysical

Science And Telepathy

Is it possible that thought is transmitted beyond just a few centimeters outside the cranium?

While brainwaves are a form of radio, due to their wavelength, and wattage, they can not be detected without electronic equipment which must be positioned at a close distance. Can it be possible that thought is truly the means by which the self connects directly to the "greater reality"? Does prayer work?

Quantum Entanglement & The Tachyonic Field

Subluminal, and luminal electromagnetic fields interact with the brain. The interaction of electro magnetic waves produced by the brain with other radio waves produced outside the brain results in the creation of harmonic electromagnetic wave patterns possessing hybrid wave patterns (interference patterns). Weak electrochemically produced radio waves produced by the brain interact with natural, and man made radiation sources, and produce radio waves which can be detected at distances significantly more distant than brainwaves can.

Yet, without radio detection equipment, and brain wave pattern analysis technology could the detection, and analysis of thought, outside the general locality of the cranium be possible? Is telepathy in any of its generally recognizable forms, including prayer, possible?

In Nonlocal Effects of Chemical Substances on the Brain Produced Through Quantum Entanglement, Huping Hu, and Moaxin Wu describe experiments in which they appear to have employed quantum entanglement to create a state of sedation in test subjects.

In their controversial study they conclude:

"Several important conclusions and implications can be
drawn from our findings. First, biologically and chemically
meaningful information can be communicated via quantum
entanglement from one place to another by photons and
possibly other quantum objects such as electrons, atoms
and even molecules. Second, both classical and quantum
information can be transmitted between locations of arbitrary
distances through quantum entanglement alone. Third, in-
stantaneous signalling is physically real which implies that
Einstein’s theory of relativity is in real (not just superficial)
conflict with quantum theory. Fourth, brain processes such
as perception and other biological processes likely involve
quantum information and nuclear and/or electronic spins
may play important roles in these processes. Further, our
findings provide important new insights into the essence and
implications of the mysterious quantum entanglement and
clues for solving the long-standing measurement problem in
quantum theory including the roles of the observer and/or
consciousness. Very importantly, our findings also provide a
unified scientific framework for explaining many paranormal
and/or anomalous effects such as telepathy, telekinesis and
homeopathy, if they do indeed exist, thus transforming these
paranormal and anomalous effects into the domains of con-
ventional sciences."

While the aforementioned study was not double blinded, and needs to be replicated by others using better equipment, I suspect that further study will confirm a role for quantum entanglement in neuronal information processing.

The brain is best appreciated as a result of biological selection, and adaption. It is apparent at this juncture in our understanding of the brain that the role of quantum entanglement in the evolution, and design of the brain, must be accommodated.

In what way has the evolution, and design of the brain been altered as a result of its evolution in a tachyonic field? In what way has the pattern of the brain's neural architecture been based upon quantum entanglement?

Subconscious Capture & Processing Of Transdimensional Information Via Dreams

An early concept relating to human perception is that of the subconscious. While semantic debate continues as to the form, and definition, of the subconscious there is little argument that the vast majority of neural processing which takes place within the brain never becomes apparent to the conscious self.

Only a portion of neural processing output ever reaches conscious perception. This suggest that a large portion of processed input, and intermediary processing outputs are dropped. However, this filtration doesn't imply that the dropped data isn't stored for later processing, or that it wasn't, or won't be, included in the processing of information which is, or will be, presented to the conscious mind.

I suggest that it is the existence of the subconscious which allows for non-wave form collapsing interactions with entangled states, and the supraluminal field. The subconscious mind treads lightly upon the transdimensional interface.

I argue that while the conscious mind recognizes tardyonically obtained information, tachyonically obtained "information" is filtered through the subconscious (e.g., hunch, dreams, feelings, guesses, instinct, prophecy). This is due to the necessity of time paradox avoidance, as well as protection of the ego construct (a psychobiological defense mechanism).

The phrase "time paradox avoidance" should be interpreted as meaning that under no circumstances can a time paradox ever exist. The universe does not allow for a time paradox, and therefore "information" obtained from supraluminal sources is captured, and processed in the only way that it can be.

This doesn't in any way suggest that supraluminal interaction isn't a fundamental property of the universe, nor does it suggest that information can't be passed via a supraluminal conduit.

While there is no need for an "active" process of time paradox avoidance, interaction with the supraluminal field necessitates a means by which input is both detected, and processed in an meaningful order (with temporal, and spatial references) within a decision making system - all without violating causality.

Pink Springfield Illinois Police Cruisers

Photo: Shocking Springfield, Illinois Police Cars - Night Cruise Mode

The Springfield, Illinois Police Department is in the process of updating the look of their squad cars.

I say that before we retire the old design completely, let's look at some possible alterations that could save those old squad cars from the scrap heap.

It's time for a paint job!

I know that some would object to neon green lettering on neon pink cruisers, but you'd have to admit the change would have a pretty profound effect on community perception of our officers on the beat.

Some studies have shown that painting "drunk tanks" in shocking pink has a calming effect on even the most obnoxious drunks. Perhaps the sight of shocking pink police cruisers prowling crime ridden streets would have a similar calming effect, and thus reduce crime?

Since I'm not a resident of Springfield, Illinois, I can only recommend that my readers who reside in Springfield bring this proposal before the city council.

Back From A Funeral

I Just returned from my brother in laws funeral. In the years that I knew him he lived a simple life. In my presence he never said an unkind word about anyone, nor even raise his voice in anger.

In my presence he never uttered a curse word, or made a sly suggestion - ever.

He always showed up when he said that he would, and always volunteered to help in any way that he could.

He'd always help clean up those huge Christmas Dinner, and Thanksgiving Dinner messes. He always had gifts for every occasion, whether it be for a birthday, Easter, or Christmas.

He was a nice Uncle for my little girl, and she cried at his funeral today - always a good sign.

He wasn't a rich man, or a successful man in the material sense. He wasn't a perfect man, but none of us are. He was just a quiet, and ordinary guy.

He had some health problems towards the end. His hearing was never that good when I knew him, and he developed Parkinson's Disease. Eventually he ended up in a rehabilitation center, and died of Pneumonia.

Today he was buried at Camp Butler, after a military funeral. The men, and women who carry out those services are simply incredible.

I'll miss Gary - he was a nice guy.

A Dark Fall

- JP -

I'm not a person at all.
But a state of confusion and pain.
Every season is Fall.
Filled with a desolate cold reign.

Another day passes.
With less, and less to say.
Another day for sadness.
Another gray sky day.

Its dark cold gladness.
Wraps about me so.
Deeper into its madness.
A heart of blackness I grow.

Lapdogs For The Ruling Class - Talk Radio

Dave of The11thhour has an interesting, and revealing post on talk radio's role as Republican party booster. What was once a public resource is now completely controlled by corporations. Consolidation of ownership of radio stations into fewer hands has meant that fewer people chose which voices are allowed on air.

Almost anyone with some technical knowledge could take some wires, electrical components, and electricity and create a radio transmitter. Radio is a natural phenomena just like sunlight, or the wind. Radio waves don't belong to anyone. In the early days of radio regular people tinkered around and built their own radio stations. This is how radio began.

If you tried this today big daddy government would toss you into jail for doing so. Government enforces an oligopoly in radio broadcasting - and thus protects the interest of corporations which control those radio frequencies. For this special arrangement there was supposed to be a trade off. Broadcasters were supposed to in some way prove that they were proper stewards of the airwaves. In exchange for granting a license to make money using radio, and television, broadcasters were supposed to serve the community.

That changed as broadcasters bought off enough corrupt representatives to dismantle the broadcasting laws which had protected the rights of the people, and the community.

In the age of digital communications there is no reason why frequencies allocated in the FM, and AM bands can't be allocated in a more competitive, and community accessible manner. All broadcast should be digital. There is no need regional radio broadcasting. By reducing the range of radio broadcast we open up frequencies for local use. By converting to digital more frequencies will become available for local use. Radio as it is in the U.S. is obsolete.

Despite the conservative nature of talk radio you never hear those conservative voices complain that the radio spectrum should be thrown open to use by anyone who wants to start a local broadcast center. They are silent advocates of their own special arrangement - the protection racket which our corrupt government operates on behalf of broadcasters.

The last two weeks leading up to the election WMAY acted as an extended, and FREE advertisement for REPUBLICAN candidates (yes there were exceptions). There wasn't any attempt at objectivity, or fairness. It was repugnant to recognize how one group of people dictate "truth" to the public. WMAY, and other radio stations, enjoy the protection of the U.S. government, yet radio talk show hosts advocate less government. This is both ironic, and revealing.

Will there ever be a change?

Only when our representatives in Washington are no longer bought, and sold, like cheap crack whores on a Saturday night will anything change.

In the meantime we must recognize that the sorry state of talk radio is a direct reflection of greed, and corruption in Washington. Greed, and corruption has a voice - a voice that pretends to represent the common people, but instead is a tool used by the ruling class to seduce those ignorant enough to actually believe what they hear.

About Time

We're not headed toward nirvana. The war won't end overnight. Graft, and corruption won't die out.

But what we have now is this - a little bit of fear.

That's right - fear.

The next time some Congressman, or member of the Bush Administration, whether Democrat, or Republican, decides to break a promise, or a law, they might have just a bit of fear that their action will result in some consequence.

And that's what I'm looking for - some congressional investigations.

We're about to find out how much money has been stolen from the U.S. taxpayer since the Iraq war began.

Folks, no matter what your political convictions let's face it - one party rule is not good for the country. We need to have these people competing with each other, and to some extent controlled by each other - otherwise it's like the wild frontier in D.C.

I believe many Republicans refused to vote Republican this year hoping that some of these corrupt people will be exposed through the political war that is just about to begin now.

This also puts some serious stress on Bush's little "Stay in Iraq until Hell Freezes Over" plan. Even Republicans are getting fed up with this "wait until we get around that next corner" crap - it's getting old, costly, and I don't believe anyone is buying it anymore.

You Should See My Scars

Video: Garbage: Bleed Like Me

This song is about girls who cut themselves. Shirley Manson had at one point tried to commit suicide. Hard to believe it, but she was tormented relentlessly as a child for having that beautiful head of red hair. She resorted to cutting instead of ending her life.

Bleed Like Me is an excellent song. Being the father of a teenage girl I can say that I know several teenage girls who have used, and periodically still use cutting as a way of dealing with the pain they feel - usually divorce related.

This song found itself circulating among the girls - most of whom, had never heard of Garbage before. Hey fathers - just because you're divorced, and don't live with your kids anymore doesn't mean that you shouldn't tell your daughters (and sons) that you love them every time you get a chance!

I Was Totally Unfair to Brody Dalle!

I just realized I posted an unequal number of videos for Garbage vs. The Distillers. For this I apologize, and I therefore must make amends.

Let's Talk Brody Dalle & The Distillers

Video: The Distillers - Young Crazed Peeling

From the very first time I heard this band I was very impressed. A lot of energy, talent, and rock and roll.

Video: Distillers - Drain The Blood (live)

I won't gush forth words of praise, and fanatic love, as I might have if I were a younger man, but suffice it to say I like Brody Dalle's style, and love the music.

Oh yes, turn your speakers all the way up to get the desired effect.

Love that raw punk Brody energy.

USA Election Day Weather Modification ALERT!

This year I'm asking my readers to watch both the election results, and to keep an eye on weather leading up to, and on election day.

Why

  • A right wing conspiracy to alter election results via weather modification

What

  • Thunderstorms effect arthritis suffers miles from the actual storm loci.
  • Thunderstorms prevent people from getting a proper night of sleep.
  • Thunderstorms during polling hours make voting more difficult.
  • Thunderstorms can cut power to voting machines.

Who are least effected

  • Affluent
  • Well Educated
  • Political, and Economic Elite.
  • Republicans

Who are most effected

  • Poor
  • Elderly
  • Disabled
  • Those who already believe their votes won't count
  • Democrats

Means

  • Stealth aircraft
  • Cloud seeding
  • Pulsed lasers (used to trigger lightning, thunder, and rain burst).
  • Particle beam generators (used to generate artificial lightning bolts).
  • Lack of public knowledge, and fear and alienation among those who do.
  • A series of close election.

Motives

The military, intelligence, and defense industry stand to gain from continued one party rule by the party they have most closely identified with since the Cold War - the Republican Party. This election will help determine how hundreds of billions of defense sector dollars is spent. Defense contractors like Lockheed, known for its close ties with NSA, and CIA, see the USA as home base. Few within such organizations would need to be aware of the existence of such a program to carry it out.

Program Already Exist

In previous post I have argued that a covert U.S. weather modification program has been in operation for decades. I have argued that a convergence of enabling technologies, and motivations, has allowed for the development of a successful covert weather platform. I claim that the NSA, and CIA operate such a program on a wide range of scales, from local thunderstorms to mesoscale continental weather fronts. For further reading please run a search on this blog for a listing of related post.

What to Look For

Take just a moment or two to ask yourself which elections are so close that an artificially intensified weather event would help change the result of the election. Then watch those precipitation, lightning, and radar maps closely.

The first step in modifying weather is to create overcast. The process must begin seven to ten days before. Altering jet stream patterns by shaping the ionosphere, doping aviation fuel to create more contrails behind jet aircraft is something that takes weeks to accomplish. So we need to look at how the overcast came to be in the first place.

Weather radar can be spoofed (by sophisticated radar "jamming" systems) so even a prediction of intense thunderstorms can be based upon entirely false information, and can alter voting patterns (there need not be an actual storm to influence voters to stay home).

Let's keep in mind the effects of sleep deprivation. A long lasting thunderstorm the night before an election would likely result in fewer votes cast - so we need to watch weather trends for several days before an election.

We need to look at how artificial lightning is used to generate sonic booms (thunder) which make it seem as if a thunderstorm exist when one does not, or in triggering a storm when and where one would not have existed otherwise.

Keep in mind that a few sonic booms traveling through a precipitation laden cloud can force condensation of water vapor resulting in a torrent of rain on a town, or even a section of a town. Which sections of towns see more lightning, and thunder, and rain on election day, or the night before elections? Do sections of metropolitan areas with democratic voters, or Republican voters receive more storms on the day of a close election?

Simply inserting a few dozen artificial lightning bolts into an otherwise mild thunderstorm may persuade some voters not to show up at the polls. In a close election this could be all that is needed to change the result of an election.

This Can't Happen In America!

Even a handful of particle beam generator equipped stealth aircraft could fly over vast areas of the continental United States in a very short time period. Such aircraft diving down from high altitudes into local areas with cloud cover could alter dozens of local weather events within minutes. It doesn't take a vast conspiracy to misuse a covert weather modification operation - if it already is in place.

A small group of self righteous "super patriots" convinced that they are untouchable due to their position within the national security state (Boeing-Lockheed-CIA-NSA) would be all that would be needed to man such an operation.

Even the use of pilots would be unnecessary if Remotely Piloted Vehicles are used. A small covert airbase (Utah has several connected with black-ops), a dozen RPVs, and a handful of "Oliver North Types", would be all that would be needed to alter the outcome of a series of close elections using weather modification.

If such a covert weather modification program were already in place for "experimental purposes" most of the support staff assigned to such a program wouldn't need to be aware of how the program was being misused. Those who had doubts about anything they might witness on election day would likely remain quiet, in fear for their lives, or concerned that any whistle blowing would result in prosecution for violating their secrecy agreements.

For those sophisticated readers who read this post with a smirk - it's time to step into the twenty first century. We live in a one party garrison state - in which corporate interest are held as more important than the good of the people. My fears are both logical, and based upon what is technically possible.

There is absolutely no one, and no institution within the United States of America that can stop the scenario which I have listed above.

We Were But Organics

Photo: We Were But Organics - Downtown Springfield, Illinois

I submitted a similar image from the same location which appears in the current edition of the Illinois Times. Ugly, yet beautiful. Organic, yet hardware. A synthesis of old, and new. I worked the image using various digital edits to give the photograph an otherworldly look. Could this possibly be downtown Springfield, Illinois?

I titled the image, and this post, We Were But Organics, based upon my feeling that we are but fragile organic life forms moving closer to the edge of obsolescence in this ever more technology driven society. We link ourselves to the world via technology which we believe will free us, but find ourselves trapped within the intermeshing of that very technology.

Don't Vote & The Terrorist Win!

As is often the case in the days leading up to an election We The People find ourselves illuminated by the cold electric smiles of various candidates who are now asking for our support. We have more than enough reason to doubt the sincerity behind those smiles, and to wonder to what good our votes will be put. We wonder if it's worth the effort.

Perhaps it is the political system itself that corrupts good men, and women seeking office, or perhaps there is something corrupt in the very nature of those seeking political power? We may never agree as to the origin of the failings, and success, of our political system, but do not let this confusion act as a justification for non-participation. We may be confused, but we must act in our own best interest.

Despite the fact that we have every reason to reject participation in such a corrupt political system we must participate. For most of us this means voting for the lessor of two evils - perhaps while holding our nose between thumb, and index finger. For others participation means writing a check, or helping a candidate's campaign as a volunteer.

Where you draw the line is entirely your choice, but remember this, we have seen in recent years an increasing trend toward non-participation in the political process, and therefore your vote holds more power today than it would have in the past. In recent years we have witnessed several close elections decided by a few hundred votes. A few hundred votes either way shaped the fate of the nation, and the world.

Not one of us can continue to rant about the state of the nation, and still be taken seriously, without taking the time to vote.

And so I implore all of my readers to please locate your polling place, schedule some time, and vote in this upcoming election.

Garbage Is Garbage

Video: Garbage: I Think I'm Paranoid

Shirley is so good. Then again Garbage was more than just Shirley Manson. The song lyrics, and the complex layering of sound that exist within each song has always impressed me. Every album was like a jewel. The live performance videos are great, but to appreciate Garbage you'll need to put the headphones on, and listen to some of the studio versions of their songs. As Dave of The11thhour once said, each time you listen you come away with more. I don't listen to Garbage very often, but each time I revisit Garbage I find it time well spent.

Video: Garbage: I'm Only Happy When It Rains

While I had watched Garbage's Queer video on MTV many times when it first came out, and found myself interested in Garbage I never did indulge my curiosity about them. It was only after I recorded an episode of X-Files which ended with I'm Only Happy When It Rains that I became interested enough to purchase my first Garbage CD. I soon bought them all.

Garbage Is Beautiful

Video: Garbage = You Look So Fine (Recorded Live)

It's been over a year since Garbage released Bleed Like Me. Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson has taken a "break" from Garbage, and is working on a solo album due for release in 2007.

Video: Garbage - The Trick Is To Keep Breathing

The creative flame that set Garbage apart from so many 90s alternative groups is hard to create, and even harder to rekindle. I'm hoping that egos are calmed, and Garbage once again reunites, and produces more great music.

Invisible Aircraft Overhead? .... Very Soon!

Video: A Quick Look At Invisibility

It seems that the next phase of stealth technologies has begun. Imagine looking up into the sky with total confidence that you're looking at a cloud, but instead it turns out that you're actually looking right through a large hovering aircraft covered in metamaterials.

That day may not be so far off. Many of our assumptions about what is possible, and what is not must now be revised.

Brace yourself for the dawn of a new era.

Welcome to a world of invisibility devices, Very High Resolution Ultrasound, and Sonar devices small enough to fit in your pocket, imaging devices that can see objects in optical frequencies which resolve smaller than the wavelength of the light source, and this is to name only a few of the applications to which metamaterials will be applied.

Get ready for the Metamaterials Revolution!

I found the following from an exchange on a forum, and just had to throw it in:

Once this thing is perfected, let's cloak THE ENTIRE COUNTRY, thus hiding it from our external enemies and rendering the United States safe forever from foreign attack!! We would have to, though, slightly change The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "...one nation, under God, invisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Earmarks

Some interesting non-partisan links for those interested in knowing what Congress is doing with our tax dollars. Read that "Who owns your local congressman enough to get the money"?

Here's an interesting link about Earmarks courtesy of The Sunlight Foundation. Just click on the link, and it brings up an interactive map into which you can plug your favorite zipcode. The map will show you little projects funded by earmarks (special projects which are paid for by your tax dollars, but are never actually voted on by Congress).

Back Up And Blogging - Sort Of

Last week my PC started to act a little strange. It all started when I repeatedly clicked on a macromedia video link from YouTube. Some may recall the "UFO" video which I claimed was some secret laser weapon.

Anyway I found myself getting increasingly frustrated at the load time for the video, and so I kept clicking, and clicking, and clicking on the video.

Suddenly the PC just shut down.

Probably a buffer overflow. Macromedia has had well know issues with security vunerabilities. In the past they have left bugs in their software which could allow hackers to gain access to computers using Macromedia's video player. I've never entirely believed the problem was resolved, nor do I believe it was simply an oversight by Macromedia to leave such a back door.

In my opinion Macromedia remains entirely suspect, and is similar to Microsoft. Microsoft is a company so distrusted that the Chinese government forced it to reveal its source code.

Despite all my apprehension about Macromedia I still end up downloading their evil plug-ins.

And so it was after clicking on the macromedia plugin applet just once too many times my PC shuts down.

It never worked the same after.

At first the PC simply wouldn't start.

Then when it did start it couldn't find various peripherals.

Nor could I gain access to the Internet.

After some reading I began to suspect that some type of spyware had been installed on my PC. After the spyware crashed it left my TCP/IP stack damaged - making it impossible to log onto the Internet.

I reset my TCP/IP settings, and finally restored enough of the PC to gain access to the Internet.

However the system completely locked me out, and kept crashing upon boot up.

I finally decided I wanted to use the PC again, and downloaded as many files as I felt needed saving, formated the hard drive, and reinstalled the OS.

I've spent each night reinstalling various software, and bringing the PC back into operation.

So I'm back!

For the first time only I missed deadline to post a Jerome Prophet's Springfield, and the feature will not appear this week in the Illinois Times.

But I'm back!

You may notice I've added Job Conger's link to my blogroll. I have also added two sites which Job Conger maintains. One on the local art scene, and the other on aviation with a local twist.

For all those wondering, Koshi Kat is doing a little better each day. He's still not back to normal, but he's slowly getting his energy back, and he's peeing!

Yes, he's peeing!

Why am I so excited about my cat peeing?

Because the operation, and related cost run at least six hundred dollars, so I'm very happy to see my cat pee - which means no operation!

A Koshi Kat Update!

Koshi is back from hospital.

My last post detailed how Koshi was striken with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease - essentially a blockage. In male cats this is fatal within one to three days. Amazingly I had never heard of FLUTD. My wife, ever the observant mother, noticed that Koshi wanted to urinate, but was unable to. Thank goodness my wife insisted, and took him to the vet.

We took him in last week, and he was released after catheterization, and one night's observation. Total cost $375 for the catheterization at the animal hospital (which included sedation, and meds), and $135 for the followup, and stay at the vets - which included a blood test.

Sadly a day after Koshi came home he became blocked again, and we had to rush him back into the animal hospital - as they were the only place open at the time.

Koshi Kat At Animal Hospital

Total cost so far $1417!

And of course we threw out all the leading brand name garbage that we had been feeding our cats (Meow Mix for example), and now have all of our cats on the much more expensive, but healthier variety.

As it turns out Meow Mix, and many of the other leading brand name cat foods are formulated with high amounts of magnesium. If I had known about this I would have spent the extra fifteen, or twenty dollars a month buying a healthier band of cat food.

The incidence of FLUTD is 1%, which translates into hundreds of thousands of cat's lives being put into danger each year simply because the very same companies which spend millions of dollars a year on cute commercials about cats don't actually care enough about those cats to properly formulate the cat food they make.

Daughter red faced from crying about Koshi

Despite it all Koshi is home now, and I'm hoping, and praying that he remain unblocked. He seems to be doing well, but he looked fine when we brought him home the last time.

Koshi's XRay showing a tennis ball sized bladder!

I've been reading like crazy on the subject of FLUTD, and we are doing everything to keep stressors to a minimum. Stress plays a big role in FLUTD, almost as much as magnesium levels in cat food.

If Koshi gets blocked again, there will be no other choice, but to have his penis removed!

That's right, you read it right - Koshi would have to have an operation to have his penis removed! First his testicles, and now his penis? Is there no end to this insult upon Koshi's malehood?

But as my teenaged daughter said tonight, "Better Koshi without a penis, than a dead Koshi", and she's right. The vets consider it a last resort due to risk of infection, and the risk which is always associated with sedation.

Some people at work asked me today why I would spend nearly fifteen hundred dollars for a cat's medical treatment (the cost of a large screen high definition television), but what I noticed was that those most befuddled by our financial outlay were also those who never had a cat as a member of their family.

In the last three, and a half years I've grown from being a person who wouldn't even consider having a cat to a person who wouldn't consider not having several cats. Cats are just really great creatures.

My daughter insisted that we tap into money we had saved to help her purchase a car when she turns sixteen to help pay for the cost of Koshi's veterinary treatment - which has made me very proud of her.

Just want to add one last thing. We're not well to do. My family survives pay check to pay check, and we greatly appreciate how much fifteen hundred dollars is, but none of us could live with ourselves if we didn't try to help this little creature who has brought so much love, and joy into our lives. For some it's cocaine, alcohol, cigarettes, or even prostitutes - I guess for us it's cats.

Koshi Kat Stricken With FLUTD

Photo: An Uninsured Koshi Kat In Simpler Days

Mourning A Lost Era

Gone are the days of veterinarians as portrayed in "All Creatures Great, and Small". Today's breed are all dollars, and cents. Who can blame them? It's harder to graduate from veterinary school than it is to become a doctor, and most vets spend years paying back student loans. Yet there's something crucial missing in the cold calculated economics - mercy, compassion, and concern for life itself. Yes, they can care, show mercy, and compassion, but you'll need to fork up the money first - or no can do.

The Choice

Produce $600 now to save your cat's life, $200 to put your cat to sleep, or take your cat home to die a slow horrible, and painful death.

The Emergency

I've posted several photos of Koshi on my blog - he's the white cat with one black ear, and the black tail. Cat's with this color pattern are called "Vans". Van Koshi Kat came down sick.

We didn't even know how important it was to get Koshi to the vet. He just seemed to be having trouble urinating. We believe we caught it in the first twenty four hours. My wife noticed it first, and insisted Koshi be taken to the animal hospital.

Being a member of the working poor - I resisted. Thank goodness Koshi made it to the animal hospital. Koshi had somehow developed a Feline Urinary Tract Disease - in simple terms Koshi had a blockage. Such blockages are considered a life or death emergency, which if left untreated usually results in death within three to six days.

We're not talking blockage due to infection, but possibly crystals - similar to kidney stones, but in the bladder. Male cats fall victim more often than females. Koshi's a guy - a lovable little guy with no real sense of gender, but nature decided to pick on him because he has a guy sized urethra.

The Proceedure

A shot of sedative, a plastic neck collar, and a quick catherterization put Koshi right back to normal. A few days of observation at the Vets, two weeks of careful observation at home, and a change in diet - and all should be well again.

Sounds kind of simple, but just imagine what it takes to insert a catherter into a cat's urethera - we're talking cats now! Four sets of razor blades - shudder! I'm definately not arguing with the price of the proceedure, as there was no choice but to sedate Koshi.

We have four cats, but this was the first time I have ever heard about FLUTD. One well known quality about cats is that they don't tend to whine when they are in pain. I guess this keeps cats alive out in the wild. Being able to ignore pain has advantages when you're a predator, and must fight, and kill to survive, but it's times like these when I wish cats could scream out, and say "Hey, I'm not feeling well".

Your Money, Or Your Cat's Life!

Although Christmas just became much more difficult to finance, we were lucky. We love our cat more than a bunch of Christmas presents. Even my teenage daughter said she understood what we were giving up, but love is more important than things, and Koshi is a bundle of love.

My daughter tells me that she overheard a girl pleading with her mother over the cell phone to help her pay for emergency treatment of her very sick dog. "But mama, I don't have the money", the african american girl said before breaking down into tears.

Most american families live paycheck to paycheck. I once picked up a brochure offering pet medical expense insurance, and after looking at the rates nearly broke out laughing. Anyone who can afford medical insurance on their pets would never need it.

When just putting food on your table, a roof over your head, and clothes on your back becomes a struggle coming up with enough money to pay for medical insurance for your pets is beyond most pet owner's reach. In a nation with forty five million hardworking people unable to insure themselves, or their family, paying for expensive pet insurance is a luxury only the upper classes can afford.

Was it wrong for me to have adopted four cats? Perhaps. I had intended on none, and ended up with one. Then one day we were adopted by a stray queen. A queen is a pregnant cat. I agreed to feed this poor stray the day I saw her jump out of my arms - clean off our porch in an attempt to catch a rabbit. She was a beautiful creature who was starving.

We took her in, and did the right thing. It took us a year to come up with the money to fix, and neuter her, and her two kittens, but we did it. We never let our cats outside. Outside cats live on average about three to five years, while indoor cats live around fifteen years.

We treat our cats with love, and they return it.

In the United States twenty thousand stray cats, and dogs are killed each day. While our society claims to love its pets every year is like the holocaust if you're a cat, or dog in America.

So perhaps I was wrong to have made that vow to these four little creatures who have shown only love to me, and my family, but I have so far honored that commitment, and will do so as long as possible.

The Spirit of Christ Comes To The Rescue

I want to extend thanks to some friends of the family who helped us out with this situation - you know who you are, and God Bless You, athough I'm not sure if you'll ever read my blog. I've said some critical things about organized religion, and certain aspects of faith's intrusion upon the domain of science, but there are some wonderful people out there who make the world a better place - and I know you did what you did because of your faith in Jesus.

I Want My Own Pyramid

Image: Who Will Build My Pyramid?

I'm watching this History Channel right now. There's a fascinating show on ancient Egypt playing right now called Engineering an Empire.

It is very likely that nothing will be left to prove that we were even here.

Radioactive Waste Will Be Our Only Legacy

Just look around. Everything you see will be gone - none of it will survive. We will leave nothing to prove we were ever here except our nuclear waste. That will be our legacy - our poisonous nuclear waste, but the pyramids will still be around.

In the spirit of the great pharoes I propose that a great pyramid be built to honor me. This great project needs to be started soon if it is to be completed before my passing.

Unlike the ancient designs I want my pyramidal tomb to resist grave robbers, and I have a plan for this. I want my pyramid to be filled with radioactive waste. Anyone going in will die from radiation sickness - a fitting curse to anyone dishonoring my final resting place.

Yes, my great pyramid, and radioactive waste will be all that remains from this era.

Now let the project begin.

City Of Springfield, Illinois Fighting Lost Cause

In the current edition of the Illinois Times, Dusty Rhodes recounts (Holy Hyperbole, Family Man!) her role in revealing the link between Psychologist Michael Campion, of Campion, Barrow & Associates and the right wing Illinois Family Institute. Dr. Campion, a member of the board of directors of the conservative evangelical organization was under contract by the City of Springfield to screen Fire Department, and Police department candidates.

Now that Campion's relationship to the IFA has been revealed the City of Springfield has decided to allow CBA's contract to expire. Did a sense of moral outrage over CBA's "secret agenda" of preventing non-whites from serving our community fill the hearts of City officials, or was it simply an attempt to pin the blame on CBA?

Is the City of Springfield just another victim, or is it a co-conspirator in violating the civil rights of non-white applicants to positions with Springfield's Police, and Fire Departments?

Was Campion's consulting firm, Campion,Barrow & Associates, used by the City of Springfield, Illinois to keep non-whites from gaining employment as firefighters, and police?

While CBA's relationship with IFA has brought yet another spotlight to bear up0n the City of Springfield's descriminatory hiring practices, we need not forget that the City of Springfield employed CBA, and not the other way around.

While Dusty Rhodes never suggests that the City of Springfield deliberately employed CBA to do its dirty work in keeping non-whites from the ranks of the city's Police, and Fire department, one has only to look at the result of the pattern of hiring descrimation to see the end result - a city with few non-white police officers, and fire fighters.

As this nation continues its ethnic, and racial demographic shift from a white majority into a more diverse racial, and ethnic mix the task of protecting the white "good old boy network", and its grip on civil service jobs, will become an ever more difficult task to accomplish, and cover up.

Note: I am not a paid staff member of the Illinois Times, nor did I consult with Dusty Rhodes, or any other member of the Illinois Times Staff in the writing of this post.

Failed Absorption Into The Warm Safe Fuzzy

A scientific approach to understaning the physical world may not provide me with that warm, fuzzy, and safe feeling that religious dogma is intended to provide, but I'll take hard cold facts over fiction anytime - no matter what the cost.

Any sense of alienation from those who subscribe to "intelligent design", and from those institutions (religions, denominations, sects, and cults) which promote varients of such an approach is what I consider the price which I must pay for continued self growth in an honest, and rational way.

"Imagine the consequences if any significant component of the U.S. government actually believed that the world was about to end and that its ending would be glorious. The fact that nearly half of the American population apparently believes this, purely on the basis of religious dogma, should be considered a moral and intellectual emergency."

Every Sperm Is Sacred!

Monty Python's Every Sperm Is Sacred

Let's Sing Along Everyone!

DAD:
There are Jews in the world.
There are Buddhists.
There are Hindus and Mormons, and then
There are those that follow Mohammed, but
I've never been one of them.

I'm a Roman Catholic,
And have been since before I was born,
And the one thing they say about Catholics is:
They'll take you as soon as you're warm.

You don't have to be a six-footer.
You don't have to have a great brain.
You don't have to have any clothes on. You're
A Catholic the moment Dad came,

Because

Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.

CHILDREN:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.

GIRL:
Let the heathen spill theirs
On the dusty ground.
God shall make them pay for
Each sperm that can't be found.

CHILDREN:
Every sperm is wanted.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.

MUM:
Hindu, Taoist, Mormon,
Spill theirs just anywhere,
But God loves those who treat their
Semen with more care.

MEN:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
WOMEN:
If a sperm is wasted,...
CHILDREN:
...God get quite irate.

PRIEST:
Every sperm is sacred.
BRIDE and GROOM:
Every sperm is good.
NANNIES:
Every sperm is needed...
CARDINALS:
...In your neighbourhood!

CHILDREN:
Every sperm is useful.
Every sperm is fine.
FUNERAL CORTEGE:
God needs everybody's.
MOURNER #1:
Mine!
MOURNER #2:
And mine!
CORPSE:
And mine!

NUN:
Let the Pagan spill theirs
O'er mountain, hill, and plain.
HOLY STATUES:
God shall strike them down for
Each sperm that's spilt in vain.

EVERYONE:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.

Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite iraaaaaate!

Video Killed The Text Blog-Stars

I've been watching little movies that people make of themselves on YouTube.

YouTube is becoming the Citizen Band Radio of the first decade of the Twenty First Century.

I've watched:

An Australian talk about the loss of Steve Irwin

A person in Enland playing a guitar - sounded good too.

A bunch of dumb videos of people singing that "I'm a Barbie Girl" song.

Lots of stupid videos of kids, and adults using Mentos to turn Diet Coke Bottles into Fountains.

High School Kids from various events dancing to the Napolean Dynamite skit - just like in the Vote for Pedro scene.

I also watched an interview with L. Ron Hubbard.

Watched an interesting documentary on Cosmology, and quasars.

Watched a PBS interview (Charlie Rose) with the late Carl Sagan.

Watched a bunch of UFO videos - some obvious fakes, and weather balloons.

Watched some high quality music videos, and videos from concerts.

Watched many poor quality music videos, and videos made by fans from concerts.

Watched some stupid Japanese Macdonald's commercials - "I'm Luvin It".

Still I can see what's beginning to happen here.

The whole world is being uploaded in video.

And Microsoft is releasing VISTA to assist us in this next step toward multimedia.

It's like going from the telegraph to the telephone, and a lot of people won't like revealing themselves on camera, but the time is come - and we bloggers had better get ready.

Why Former President Clinton Cites Richard Clarke

Was President Clinton asleep at the wheel? Can we blame 9/11 on him?

Conservatives are desparate to rewrite history as Midterm elections approach. Let's not let them get away with any more lies. These videos will take some time to get through, but they are well worth
the time.

Iraq War Cost - Update

Dave of the11thhour on the cost of the Iraq war.

It's increasing!

Three Hundred Seventy Nine Billion Dollars spent on the Iraq war so far.

According to the CIA the population of Iraq is twenty six million seventy four thousand.

Let's do some simple math.

$379,000,000,000 / 26,074,906. = $14,535.

That's $14,535 per man, woman, and child in Iraq.

According to the CIA, Iraq's per capita income is $3,500, which means we have spent the equivalent of four years per capita income on each Iraqi since our invasion of that country.

Of course the money being spent on the war is not being spent on the average Iraqi. In fact Iraqis are much worse off financially than they were before the invasion.

We could have spent the last three years tossing stacks of one hundred dollars bills out of our Humvees, and at least that way there'd be far fewer IED's, and RPG attacks on our soldiers.

In fact I doubt there would be anyone attacking our troops at all - not without a great deal of fear, and trepidation.

The war is being financed with deficit dollars (stolen from future generations of U.S. taxpayers), and is making friends of President Bush richer by the day.

What has the war in Iraq gained the average citizen of the U.S.?

I can't think of anything gained which would be worth the blood, and treasure this war has already cost this nation.

Baking Orbs The Old Fashioned Way - Lasers

Magic via Science - Making Orbs with Lasers

By synchronizing these pulses and controlling them with software, our device can draw any 3D objects in air.

-Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology-

Researchers at the Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology listed their accomplishments in the field of 3D display systems using lasers to create dots of plasma out of air.
  1. We have used laser produced plasma technology to make a flashpoint in the air.
  2. We have greatly improved the brightness, contrast, and production distance of the plasma by optimizing the laser beams.
  3. Using a laser plasma, we have been the first to succeed in displaying "real 3D images" in a space where there is nothing but air.

Graphic: Using Lasers To Create Plasma Dots In A 3D Display System

Japanese researchers use lasers to creating plasma dots. Using computer controlled lasers allows for the creation of 3D dot matrix patterns in mid-air!

Another snippet:
"The device we have developed utilizes the plasma emission phenomenon near the focal point of focused laser light. By controlling the position of the focal point in the direction of the x-, y-, and z-axes, we have succeeded in displaying real 3D-images constructed by dot arrays in air (3D-space)."
