Shut The Hell Up Mr. Bush!

Shut The Hell Up Mr. Bush! (intro)

I dedicate this post to future generations which will wonder how we, who endured our clown king of a President, felt about George W. Bush and his band of slithering cronies.

The videos which accompany this post may become disconnected from this post in the future, but please look up Keith Olbermann, for he many times expressed our thoughts.

Few voices sounded so eloquent in expressing our angst as MSNBC's pundit Keith Olbermann. Some on the right consider Olberman to be guilty of sedition, while those fed up with the evil lies of the Bush Administration have found Keith's outrage to be long overdue. Rare it is that any member of the main stream media could express the contempt we the American people feel toward our evil clown king.

Bush Pathetically Lied About Why He Gave Up Golf

So many of us felt the way Keith Olbermann did. We detested the clown king Bush, and his cronies who lied to us. They took advantage of our anger, and our fear right after the 911 terrorist attack. They channeled our patriotic zeal into a war upon Iraq which was based upon their greed, and their dishonesty. They sold out the American people, and they betrayed us for a quick buck, and personal power.

They wasted the opportunity to bring mass murder Osama Bin Laden to justice, and they wasted hundreds of billions of dollars in treasure, and the blood and lives of thousands of our brave soldiers. We also felt regret over the loss of innocent lives taken in Iraq, and the suffering our invasion, and our occupation of Iraq put upon the Iraqi people.

And we regret the quagmire we now find ourselves ensnared within.

Bush and his cronies used our patriotism, and our sense of obligation to support and remain loyal to our brave troops against us. They manipulated us with such mastery, and they took us for fools.

This was a war for oil, and they left the entire Middle East in a far more dangerous state.

We waited, and we waited, and we waited for the end of this horrible regime.

And we knew the truth, and we shared that truth with each other waiting for the buffoon king to step from his buffoon throne.

Shut The Hell Up Mr. Bush! (conclusion)

Bush Administration Lies And Greed - The Real Reason For Iraq War

The real cost of the Iraq Invasion and Occupation of Iraq is staggering, but at no point did Bush or his cronies ever admit to doing the wrong thing. Trading Iraqi, and American lives in pursuit of their hidden ambition to take over Iraq's oil assets was all part of an evil equation.

And most certain of all we knew that the evil clown king and those sycophants he surrounded himself with would never admit what they did was wrong - no matter what the cost to others.

Note: Thank you "Katrina", for the idea for this post.

The 11th Hour - My Opinion

The 11th Hour - My Opinion

I viewed The 11th Hour documentary tonight. It was excellent.

We in the United States have seen how corporate greed, and governmental corruption has harmed both our ecology, and economy.

I'm hoping that it's not too late to find a way to work around corrupt regimes such as the U.S. government and the oil industry which runs it. It may not be too late to save the planet, and create a survivable future.

With oil prices on the rise alternative sources of energy will become more competitive, and hopefully this will lead to the beginning of an inevitable transition to sustainable, and renewable energy sources.

In the meantime two thumbs up for The 11th Hour - catch it on DVD or cable, and don't stop there.

Israel and Saudi Arabia - A Two Sided Coin

Israel and Saudi Arabia - A Two Sided Coin

The United States government is not run by the people of the United States. It is in actuality controlled by powerful well connected special interest. The most powerful of these special interest is the oil industry (even more powerful than the war industry).

Oil wars are extremely profitable to both the war industry, and the oil industry. Oil wars create instability, and uncertainty in oil supplies which leads to increased oil prices. Oil wars also pump hundreds of billions of dollars into war industries.

Aside from the motivations of greedy multinational corporations within the energy and defense industries there are other powerful interested parties which hope to shape and control U.S. foreign policy.

Among those interest are Saudi Arabia, and Israel.

Saudi Arabia for example owns fifteen percent of the United States, and exerts enormous political and economic pressure over corrupt (all) U.S. lawmakers.

Israel is a state devoid of oil, or any other important natural resources. Except for Israel's geographic location it is completely lacking in any strategic or economic value to the U.S. Despite this fact Israel has a virtual stranglehold over U.S. Middle East foreign policy through the use of lobbying (bribes) via the IPAC (Israeli Political Action Committee).

The Bush family owes most of its wealth to Saudi Arabia, and the President of the United States of America should be seen as a foreign agent for Saudi Arabia as he does their bidding. Not only did George W. Bush's wealth come from Saudi Arabia, but it is most certainly true that the majority of his future income will come from Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia also owns George Herbert Walker Bush (the President's father) as well.

Saudi Arabia, and Israel are publicly perceived to be enemies, yet they share several similar goals when it comes to controlling U.S. foreign policy. Both nations seek to keep the U.S. military engaged in a quagmire in Iraq, and both nations desire that the U.S. attack Iran.

Both Saudi Arabia, and Israel share another important objective, and that is to discourage a move of the U.S. toward energy independence.

The simple, and undeniable truth is that if the United States became energy independent, it would no longer be subject to Middle Eastern blackmail by any Middle Eastern nation, including Israel, and Saudi Arabia.

If the U.S. shifted its reliance for fuel from oil to domestically produced biodiesel it would most certainly lead to a reevaluation of the relationship which has existed between the U.S. and the Middle East in general. This does not imply that the U.S. would become an isolationist empire, however, it is obvious that the United States would be less likely to overreact to pressures being put upon it from the Middle East.

As Americans pay higher prices for everything, from gasoline, to food, they should understand that their corrupt (all) elected officials have been promised high paying jobs after they leave office by those who truly control the U.S. government.

While the ice caps melt, and sea levels rise the U.S. has only begun to admit that there may be a global ecological catastrophe in motion - caused by the release of carbon dioxide through the burning of fossil fuels. This lack of response, which should be viewed as a form of insanity, is entirely understandable when understood as the result of corruption within the U.S. government.

America's government will continue to be a corrupt, and inept partner in crime against the best interest of the people of the United States. The citizens of that nation will continue to watch as their future remains caught within a stranglehold of Middle Eastern subterfuge, and intrigue.

May God Bless America! Long live the true American patriots, and to hell with the traitors who have betrayed our beloved nation to foreign interest. As the oil runs out, and it surely will, the true America will find its voice being heard again. Prepare oh Israel and Saudi Arabia for that day is coming within the lifetimes of those alive today (2008).

Harpooning The Killer WAMU

Another Harpoon In The Side Of The Evil Beast

June will be a very big month too as I plan to bring the balance down by an additional $1400.

I will slay this whale by August!

And why do I post this?

Because this evil credit card company obviously believed I couldn't escape from their 30% annual rate which they punished me with for having gone over my credit limit by $5.85.

They are an evil company, and believed they could enslave me in never ending debt, but instead I will deny them the thousands of dollars they could have made from me in interest if they had only treated me fairly.

Don't Let Me Down

Beatles - Don't Let Me Down

I love the Beatles.

We make our meals. We clean our streets. We do our jobs. And then we sleep.

But the music continues.

And will.

Long after we are gone.

Years from now others will say

I love the Beatles - not in the past tense - but in their then and now.

Music transcends time.

Good Riddance Greedy Washington Mutual

Good Riddance Greedy Washington Mutual

Right around Christmas (2007) I made some changes to my Real Rhapsody online music account so that my daughter could download songs to her newest MP3 player.

Real Rhapsody ended up double billing us that month, which put us over our credit card limit. We had carefully avoided going over limit, but with Christmas we were left without any buffer.

Rhapsody compensated us, and gave us three months free service, but the event triggered a change in rates on our Washington Mutual Credit Card.

What had been a barely acceptable credit card rate before skyrocketed to 30%

That's right 30%

They didn't seem to care that it wasn't our fault.

This is a card we have left close to the maximum limit for nearly a year (since saving our cat Koshi's life).

Each month we have paid just the amount needed, but no more. We've been busy this last year paying off my daughter's car, and now my own. And we also are paying for a vet bill.

WAMU was making a good bit of interest off of us - let me tell you, but then they had to go and get greedy.

Thirty Percent? What is this, and episode of the Sopranos?

I obtained a loan from a secured source at an acceptable rate of interest, and I will now pay the WAMU card off by August.

Greed may be good, but it works best when your victims have no way out - but that's a lesson I'm sure WAMU knows well.

I know I shouldn't cancel the card - it will hurt my credit to payoff the card and then cancel it - and that is surely what the India call center wo/man will tell me the day I call them to cancel their card (that's what the last credit card company said when I canceled the last card).

But I'm going to do it - I'm going to cancel the card with relish.

In the meantime our so called representatives, who are in bed with companies like WAMU, allow credit card holders to get screwed by companies like this. I've read where WAMU is in financial troubles. I bet if they started going under, they'd beg for a federal handout, and probably get one.

Four Dollars Per Gallon Gasoline Rant

When I bought my SUV last Fall gasoline prices were under three dollars per gallon - not much under - but still under. Before I purchased my Mountaineer I calculated what it would cost to drive the vehicle. I generously added a quarter to the cost of a gallon, not believing gasoline would rise in cost much more than that in the coming year. If I had only known.

Gasoline has risen in price approximately 33% in the last six months.

It now cost me $88 dollars to fill up my 22 gallon tank.

I fill up twice a month.

Just six months later it now cost me $60 more per month to drive my SUV.

Where did the money come from?

From cutting back on everything else - that's where.

The other night I drove my daughter over to her friend's apartment, then went back home. I then went back to pick her up. Providing my daughter a ride to, and from her friends cost me $4.00. I've told my daughter after that night that she'll have to drive herself there in her car, which gets twice the miles per gallon as my SUV.

I have decided to drive the speed limit!

I've noticed that I'm not the only commuter driving an SUV that has begun obeying the posted speed limit. It's a funny feeling driving down the road knowing that I am obeying the law.

The little cars still fly past, but I'm now much much much safer, for not only am I driving a tank, but I'm finally driving at a safe speed.

Closed Minds Frightened Of Open Minds

Closed Minds Frightened Of Open Minds

There's a part of being human that ties us all together, and although we know it exist we often deny it. This extraordinary, and yet fundamental part of our existence is often referred to as spirituality, psychical ability, or extra sensory perception.

This essay is not intended to dispassionately present any evidence of the existence of psychical phenomena, as that would be a waste of time for me at this point in my life. Instead I'll skip to the chase.

People deny what they must to focus upon talents which enable them to survive.

Connecting closely means losing ego, and psychological space.

Imagine trying to solve a set of complex multi step math equations in your head when you feel connected to other's minds, or that they are connected to your mind.

Not an easy task.

This is at the heart of the matter - each individual makes a subconscious choice - as to how far they can grow in knowledge as to their inner ability - to being "open".

The foundations of our modern technology based society demands eschewing our fuller, and truer nature. We need steel trap minded scientist concentrating upon small parts of big problems - working together to create a brighter future - filled with ever more complex machines.

This schism between open mind personality, and closed mind personality can be seen between the arts which are holistic, and the sciences which progressively become ever more specialized.

It is exemplified by the wave versus the particle (and this can not be understated as important to a greater understanding).

And while human culture at this point in its technological infancy may feel assured that a simple thing like spirituality, or psychical ability, can be ignored, the physics behind that spirituality can not be ignored - at least not for much longer.

What effect this awakening will have upon mainstream human culture is a subject for another essay.

NASA To Make Major Nerd Announcement

Will NASA Unveil A Chandra Image Similar To This Black Hole Rendition?

NASA To Make Major Nerd Announcement

A somewhat mysterious media advisory was posted to NASA's website. Rumor has it that it may be the first direct observation of a black hole! O.K. admittedly this is for nerds, but it's still very interesting - or at least I think so. While black holes are fairly common, and the effects which they have on surrounding matter is well documented the direct observation of a black hole would be a first.

Here's the announcement:

MEDIA ADVISORY : M08-089
NASA to Announce Success of Long Galactic Hunt
WASHINGTON -- NASA has scheduled a media teleconference Wednesday, May 14, at 1 p.m. EDT, to announce the discovery of an object in our Galaxy astronomers have been hunting for more than 50 years. Go Kill Yourself - No, Don't

Disturbed (one of my favorite groups) - Inside The Fire

Note: Devon was lead singer David Draiman 's girlfriend. The lyrics portray the devil recommending that David kill himself in the depths of his despair after discovering that his girlfriend had committed suicide.

Inside The Fire
by Disturbed

Devon
Won't go to heaven
She's just another lost soul, about to be mine again
Leave her
we will receive her
It is beyond your control
will you ever meet again

Devon
No longer living
Who had been rendered unwhole.
As a little child,
she was taken
and then forsaken
you will remember it all
Let it blow your mind again

Devon lies beyond this portal
take the word of one immortal
Give your soul to me
For eternity
release your life
to begin another time with her
End your grief with me
there's another way
release your life
take your place inside the fire with love

Sever
Now and forever
you're just another lost soul about to be mine again
see her, you'll never free her
you must surrender it all
And give life to me again

Fire
All you desire
As she begins to turn cold and run out of time

you will shiver
till you deliver
you will remember it all
Let it blow your mind again

Devon lies beyond this portal
take the word of one immortal
Give your soul to me
For eternity
release your life
to begin another time with her
End your grief with me
there's another way
release your life
take your place inside the fire with love

[solo]

Give your soul to me
For eternity
release your life
to begin another time with her
End your grief with me
there's another way
release your life
take your place inside the fire with love

Devon
No longer living
Who had been rendered unwhole.
As a little child
she was taken,
and then forsaken
you will remember it all
Let it blow your mind again (less)

END

Question Time

Under what circumstances is it acceptable to end one's own life?

I feel that such a decision would be acceptable, but only under certain circumstances. Circumstances which we might all face if we lived long enough.

List of Unacceptable Circumstances

Drug or Alcohol Addiction
Incarceration
Broken Heart
Financial Problems
Act of Terrorism
Act of Revenge Against a Loved One

List of Acceptable Circumstances

After Killing Others - Criminally*
In Extreme Non-Stop Physical Pain
High Probability of Extended Psychological Stress Due to Terminal Health Condition
To Save Another's Life

Probably not a complete list either way.

* This one would be very controversial for those who would say that the guilt that the killer felt - driving them to suicide - proves that the killer is not beyond redemption - and that the killer could accept salvation - and still live a Christian life behind bars, and even go to heaven.

Writing The Fence

Writing the Fence

Several years of blogging has left me asking questions about the nature of this relatively new cultural phenomena called blogging. A dictionary type description of blogging might state that blogging is the act of placing one's thoughts, one's daily diary, onto the world stage via the Internet, and that blogging is a means by which individuals speak out to other individuals and groups through semi permanent essays posted to the Internet. While those descriptions may describe what blogging is, I am left to wonder what blogging "really" is, and why we who blog do it.

I'm fairly certain that I'm not the only blogger to wonder why I write, and I'm fairly sure that I'm not the only blogger to wonder for whom I am writing? I've usually settled on the following answer - because I can - yet I find that answer lacking. I don't mow the grass because I can, or go to work because I can. I do those things because I have to do those things, but blogging isn't obligatory for most bloggers, and so I suspect blogging is more a form of recreation - that is RE-CREATION. And in any form of creative process there is a starting point, and ending point, and expectations of what one will achieve in the end. For me the expectation of self growth is paramount.

I view blogging as a means to self growth. I have used this public forum as a means of putting to word various ideas which I may have held onto for many years, and conversely I've used blogging to document ideas that were fresh to me. Learning to express my ideas through the written word is a growth process for me. Taking risk, and being vulnerable to the consequences of sharing who I am is also a growth experience for me.

I've written poems, songs, prayers, plays, short stories, critiques, prose, documentary essays, personal history, and I've included photographs which I have taken, or photos which others have taken, and even art work.

I've seen how in each post I have become just a little bit better at writing, and yet I feel as if I have only begun.

I've also shared my ideas on politics, religion, and a broad range of topics, and I'm no longer an anonymous silent observer. I can no longer deny what I believe, for I have stated it to the world - and I've just begun.

My intention for this post is to explore the question of whether by choosing to post our diaries to a public forum that bloggers find themselves pressured to distort their thoughts into forms which they believe and even hope will be met with approval by their readers.

I believe the answer most certainly is in the affirmative.

Do I Write For You?

Who do bloggers write for? I can state boldly that I don't write for you dear readers, but the truth is that I do write for you. This statement is seemingly distraught with contradiction, and yet each element is quite honestly stated.

I write for myself, yet I believe, and even hope that others may be reading my words. I have, like other bloggers, found myself crafting thoughts in ways which I believed would be both understood, and accepted by at least some of my readers. I find this experience both liberating, and confining.

Despite my awareness that others may be reading what I write, and my desire to please any potential readers I ultimately believe that write for myself. Therefore the expression, "To thine own self be true", becomes paramount in my considerations for what I write about, and the way that I write.

Do I Remain True?

I believe that it is my obligation to try to be honest about what I believe in my postings, but not always. Yes, you read it right - not always. For I believe that anyone who believes they are being entirely honest is delusional. Honesty is a goal in writing, and it may not be always be the best goal at all times when all things are considered.

Honesty, or what we believe honesty is can be a trap of false expectations. Honesty can in fact stifle the creative process and prevent one from exploring aspects of existence, experience, and persona that one might feel too dangerous to reveal - and thus creating a facade or many false faces can be liberating in ways that so called honesty could never be.

An Honest Intent Is The Key

I've read some blogs in which each post is so carefully constructed that one could never tell what the blogger feels - and that I find to be a tragic waste of time. These bloggers feel that they must construct postings which allow them room to escape any accusation of taking a stand - and I find that pathetic.

We live once, and our lives are exceedingly short, and then we're gone forever - and yet people still feel that they can't express themselves even through their own online diaries.

Most of the world's population live in fear of being jailed for expressing their true beliefs. The simple act of expressing a thought is enough to land the majority of humanity in a cage.

Think!

From China to Saudi Arabia bloggers are being imprisoned for simply expressing thoughts, so it is especially disconcerting to read blogs sourced from democratic nations in which word play has replaced passion, and conviction.

People are afraid to reveal their true beliefs for fear of recrimination, or of being misunderstood.

I personally have lost a good friend of nearly forty years not based upon any action, but upon simple words upon a page - so the danger is real. People fear losing their jobs, being blackballed, being made a suspect in the eyes of their community, or the law for simply exploring and sharing thoughts.

We apes are far from learning how to live with one another - very far indeed.

Blogging entails risk - and therefore people are afraid to commit to others who they really are, and it is evident in how people chose what to write about, and how they convey themselves.

I appreciate the fears of being labeled a sexist, racist, ageist, ethno-centrist, homophobic, anti-Semite, anti-Islamic, anti-Christian, anti-Buddhist, religious intolerant, fascist, communist, capitalist, socialist, atheist, agnostic, theist, pantheist, deist, Democrat, Republican, conservative, liberal, a class discriminator - kind of guy.

Those fears are always there, even when I don't recognize their existence, or their affect.

When I cross the line

I suspect that one of the more persistent concerns that any non-anonymous blogger must have is whether they have ventured past the boundaries of good taste, and political correctness. In nations like China where bloggers fear of being imprisoned for simply stating facts, and opinions the task is made simple - don't talk about certain subjects which the Chinese dictatorship would frown upon, however, in the democracies the task of establishing how far to venture into controversy is given to the masses - the masses of readers of every conviction and interest.

In the democracies advocacy toward politically correctness is the means of control used by every group or individual with a cause - and bloggers who allow comments are subjected to pressure to conform to this censorship by a million comments, or face being cast out.

This pressure to conform to potential online critics, haters as some refer to them, has me wondering if there is a point at which I as an individual writer have a right to choose what to believe, and what to express without fear, and without guilt, or doubt?

Could I ever be so brave, or naive, to believe that without the protection of anonymity, that many bloggers believe they have, that I could "get away" with expressing myself freely? For I am not an anonymous blogger, and there is no illusion of anonymity for me. What I write on this blog appears to create some ripples, very small perhaps, but real. And I find that both exhilarating, and frightening.

Why do I write?

In the end I must ask myself - if I were to die a moment after I submitted these words for online publication - would they reflect my honest feelings - at least at the moment I wrote them?

Yes, I have been honest and true to myself - or at least I believe those words are true.

However, this doesn't mean I haven't been dishonest, wrong, crude, evil, imperfect, ignorant, politically incorrect, hateful, self centered, immature, or any of the labels which you dear readers decide to apply to me.

It is true that I am all of those horrible things at various times, yet I hope that I have at the least avoided skimming along the top of the fence. I hope that I have displayed some level of integrity by sharing my beliefs as honestly as I can, and that I have used this blog to reveal my "true" self - flaws and all.

I don't ask for forgiveness for being myself, nor do I ask for a pass for the simple act of expressing that self on my own blog - my own diary. In the end no one is making you read these words - but something is driving me to write them - and it is to that something that I owe the higher obligation - despite the cost.

In the end let this blog be my vehicle of self examination, self growth, and my own little playground of ideas - be they considered correct, or not - for it can not be all things to all people, and still be me.

I will pledge only one thing to you dear readers - and that is that I won't be writing the fence - I will fall down on one side or the other - even if I find myself having to pull myself out of the mud.

Red Tulips Of Death

Red Tulips of Death

Red Tulips of Death
A Short Story
By Jerome Prophet

Danny: These flowers are for you Mommy!

Mommy: Oh how beautiful, give Mommy a kiss.

Danny: Here Mommy!

Mommy: They are very beautiful, but where did you get them Danny?

Danny: I took them from the yard with the red house Mommy.

The mother's smile immediately faded.

Mommy: Danny, how many times have I warned you not to take flowers from that yard?

Danny: But Mommy I got them for you because you are so beautiful, and I love you!

Mommy: Oh sweetie, I know you meant well, but it's wrong to take things that aren't yours.

Danny: But they have so many two lips they won't miss them, will they Mommy?

Mommy: Maybe not, but it's wrong anyway. We mustn't do it again.

Danny: No Mommy I won't.

Mommy: No Danny, I know you won't.

Danny: Here's one more I put in my pocket. It's a bit crumpled.

Mommy: Be a good boy then, and go get me a vase from the cabinet - a blue one.

Danny: Yes Mommy!

Mommy: Walk, don't run! What do I always tell you?

Danny: O.K.

As the little boy went to retrieve the blue vase the mother opened a drawer and pulled out some scissors. She carefully cut the ends of each flower's stem at just the right angle.

The little boy returned with the blue vase.

Danny: Here Mommy!

The boy's mommy took the vase from her little boy's hands, placed the flowers into the blue vase, and filled the vase with fresh cool water. She placed the vase on the kitchen table.

She then stabbed the little boy repeatedly with the scissors in his head and chest.

Mommy: That will teach you to steal!

The little boy slowly sank to the kitchen floor with a blank expression upon his little face. The floor around his crumpled lifeless body turned bright red with his fresh warm blood.

The blood perfectly complimented the beautiful red flowers in the bright blue vase.

The End

They Are The Urban Rabbits

Urban Rabbit @ 7th & Washington - Springfield, Illinois

They Are the Urban Rabbits

Hopping along from grassy field to grassy field they enter the suburbs - detected.

Darting deeper, and deeper, they cross the invisible line which separates suburban from urban unknowingly.

Skipping across vast stretches of barren warm asphalt they search for food and water.

And dart cars.

But there are fewer dogs - they tell themselves.

The scent of fresh flowers carried upon the breeze guides them.

Until finally they arrive.

And eat.

And nibble.

And chew.

And make baby rabbits.

To repeat the cycle once again.

They are the Urban Rabbits.

Nice Day

Today was a nice day.

I awoke fully rested, and took my daughter to work. She has her own car, but she saves gas this way, and it gives me a chance to talk with her.

When I arrived home I decided to mow the grass for the first time this year. The weather was fantastic. Not a cloud in the beautiful blue sky. Nice and warm, but never hot. The breeze was just right, never cold, but slightly ever so slightly cool. No mosquitoes, or insects to cause problems. Just perfect weather with all the trees in bloom.

A Dirty Z24

I then pulled our cars out of the garage, and hosed down the garage, and the driveway. How did all that dust, and muck, get in there? This had to be one of the worst winters in years, and boy did it ruin our streets, and I guess all the dust and salt came in with the snow.

I then washed both cars, and cleaned them inside and out.

A Clean Mercury Mountaineer

And then picked my daughter up at work, and our little family went out to eat - Chinese - not the people - the food.

And then I relaxed a bit when I came home, and ordered a new cell phone for my daughter - her third in one year.

I went grocery shopping, and just got back home.

We plan to have a little dinner tonight with ice cream cake.

I have a bit of a rosy color on my arms, and face - I never tan as I'm too light complected, but all the sunlight has put me into a good state.

Now, it's back to work tomorrow - argh.

In a few weeks I'll be taking a vacation - my first for the year - so I'm hoping to have many nice weather days like this.

Migraine My Brain

My Migraine Experience

One day a few weeks ago, at work, I began to have a distortion in my visual field - fancy talk for a hallucination.

I began to see colored triangular shapes and patterns along one side of my visual field - but this only affected one eye.

I was somewhat concerned, as it just wouldn't go away. Blink, Blink, it still wouldn't go away.

Was I having a stroke? Quick, what were the signs of a stroke?

But instead of getting frightened I decided to just relax, and let it happen. I've had some experiences with hallucinogens in my younger days, and so I wasn't going to let this experience freak me out.

It lasted a good half hour to an hour, and then went away.

Eventually the most horrible headache came upon me.

Was it a brain tumor?

Wait a second, I vaguely recalled the symptoms.

I had a migraine.

I've had severe headaches before, with light sensitivity, but never the intense visual display which warns of the coming brain storm.

Here's an except from a NYTIMES post dealing with migraines:

I have had migraines for most of my life; the first attack I remember occurred when I was 3 or 4 years old. I was playing in the garden when a brilliant, shimmering light appeared to my left — dazzlingly bright, almost as bright as the sun. It expanded, becoming an enormous shimmering semicircle stretching from the ground to the sky, with sharp zigzagging borders and brilliant blue and orange colors. Then, behind the brightness, came a blindness, an emptiness in my field of vision, and soon I could see almost nothing on my left side. I was terrified — what was happening? My sight returned to normal in a few minutes, but these were the longest minutes I had ever experienced.

I told my mother what had happened, and she explained to me that what I had had was a migraine — she was a doctor, and she, too, was a migraineur. It was a “visual migraine,” she said, or a migraine “aura.” The zigzag shape, she would later tell me, resembled that of medieval forts, and was sometimes called a “fortification pattern.” Many people, she explained, would get a terrible headache after seeing such a “fortification” — but, if I were lucky, I would be one of those who got only the aura, without the headache.

I was lucky here, and lucky, too, to have a mother who could reassure me that everything would be back to normal within a few minutes, and with whom, as I got older, I could share my migraine experiences. She explained that auras like mine were due to a sort of disturbance like a wave passing across the visual parts of the brain. A similar “wave” might pass over other parts of the brain, she said, so one might get a strange feeling on one side of the body, or experience a funny smell, or find oneself temporarily unable to speak. A migraine might affect one’s perception of color, or depth, or movement, might make the whole visual world unintelligible for a few minutes. Then, if one were unlucky, the rest of the migraine might follow: violent headaches, often on one side, vomiting, painful sensitivity to light and noise, abdominal disturbances, and a host of other symptoms.

Zero to Three

Zero to Three
by JeromeProphet

You're the guide
Who set me free
I trek and glide
You speak to me
Within the darkness
And in this pain
I feel your blackness
I fear your reign

You're still there
I can feel you now
I'm tumbling scared
And falling down
I'm out of breath
And clutched by death
I'd summon you
But I don't know how

The others there
They stand in light
They mock me now
And say they're right
But love has now
Abandoned thee
My blood runs cold
You've forsaken me

And when they pick
My scattered bones
And when they sip
My blood red tones
They'll never care
What truth was shared
Or the promise
Made Zero to Three

FBI Caught Removing Chinese Family's Wiretap

FBI Removed Wiretap After Chinese Family Moved

O.K. admittedly I have no evidence to go on. I just happened to be home from work with a cold, and was bored. So I took several photos of an odd looking vehicle that pulled into the driveway of our Chinese neighbors who moved out over the last weekend.

Not quite sure what was going on as the Jeep has no markings.

The man went into the backyard with the ladder, and removed "something" from the cables running into the house, and then left.

Probably just an unmarked cable television uninstaller guy - is that possible?

I probably should have gone to work today - I'm bored.

Valborgsmässoafton!

Saying Good Bye To Winter Northern European Style!

We need something like this in the United States, but the government here is probably too afraid the people would set the country ablaze.

Fire and booze - quite a mix.

Only Pair of Shoes During 2007 - Note The Holes

Stealing From Your Benefactor

Mother: We need to go into the living room and talk.

Step Father: What's this all about?

Mother: Well, your daughter has something to say.

Step Father: What's this?

Mother: Well, we've all done something wrong in our lives.

Step Father: Oh geez, just tell me what is going on.

Mother: Do you want me to tell you, or your daughter?

Step Father: If she has anything to tell me she should be the one.

Step Daughter (crying): We'll you know how you wouldn't let me have any money for gas (drugs)?

Step Father: What did you do?

Step Daughter: Well I sold your CDs, and some of your DVDs, and video games (over 100).

Step Father: What?

Step Daughter: I only got like 50 cents each.

Context

Aren't You Devine

Sarah Bernhardt

I've spent some time with Sarah Bernhardt tonight. I searched high and low across the digital landscape for just the right photo of Sarah, and now I've found it. I was looking for that special something that captures the person, that goes beyond the surface and that reveals simply, and honestly the spark of the person.

Sarah had many admirers, and some famous lovers of both genders. Sarah Bernhardt was the most famous woman of her day - even more so than the Queen of England.

Sarah you were beautiful, and I could fall in love with you simply gazing into those beautiful eyes.

The Chinese People Are Leaving

The Chinese People Are Leaving

I didn't really know them well.
But they seemed alright enough to me.
They lived just across the way.

We shared some interesting moments.
The night of the tornado they discovered that the carpet layers had sealed up their crawlspace.
They were headed to our place for shelter when another neighbor offered shelter too.

Like any traditional Chinese family they tried to stay close.
The eldest daughter had moved out and I guess shacked up with an American.
She became pregnant, but they never married.
They had the most beautiful little Amerasian baby.
The little baby is now a little toddler romping around.

The younger daughter graduated from High School last year.
She was quite popular and had a nice little graduation party.
She is quite heavily into smoking the Mary Jane - or so I've been told
by someone who shouldn't know these things, but does.

The elder father never spoke a word of English - except maybe Thanks - in my presence.
I believe he thanked me the day I helped him change his tire.
It was very cold, and in the snow we worked together - Chinese and American.
To get his family back on the road.

He was always kind of fun to watch in the summer time.
He has an electric lawn mower.
He would go out and try to mow his lawn when his lawn was still wet from the rain.
I saw him do this over and over again.
I kind of thought it was funny that he didn't seem to get it.

Sometimes I'd go out and mow my lawn in front of him.
There I was the big American with a gas mower (thanks to Dave of the 11th hour)
With no trouble at all while he was there trying to get his mower to work.

My secret is how high I set the mower - and years of experience mowing.
But I didn't believe he knew any English so I never really went over to give him tips.

The mother worked at the Mall I believe - in a restaurant.
She spoke English quite well. She told me she was from Taiwan.
Native Taiwanese - not so much Chinese.

She wanted my daughter to baby set her little baby grand daughter.
But it never seemed to work out.
She brought us hamburgers at least once from a cookout - nice lady.

She told me she didn't like the Chinese food at Buffet City, or several of the other Chinese restaurants in town because they added way too much sugar.
Everything there is too sweet - this is not authentic Chinese cooking - she told me.

They dug up nearly their entire backyard, and side yard too.
They planted these incredible gardens. Such dedication.
The mother showed me her gardens with pride.
She was also a chain smoker.

I photographed their daughter's graduation ceremony.
The mother was very proud, but she was honest about how teenagers do what they want.
She was a bit disappointed that her eldest daughter didn't go directly to college.

I don't know if her youngest is in college - maybe.

For the last several days they've been packing a large moving van.
The younger daughter and her boyfriend. The older daughter and her boyfriend and father of their little child (I believe they have two now).

They are Chinese in the sense they are pitching in together as a close family.
They will move together and stay together as a Chinese family would.

But the girls are completely Americanized - rebellious and American.

And off they will move to Florida.

Sunny Florida where it is warm, where there are jobs.

I believe they'll be moved out by the end of the weekend - maybe even tomorrow morning.
They must have decided to let their lease run out at the end of April.

I never really knew them, but I did like them.
You will be missed Chinese Family!

Best of Luck!
And may you experience no more snow, and no more tornadoes.
May your daughters mature, and turn out as you have dreamed.

And watch out for the hurricanes!

Oh yes, and make sure to raise the wheel height on your lawn mower so you can mow when the grass is a bit wet - that's a modern American secret.

Ignorance - It's Hard To Understand

Ignorance - It's Hard To Understand

I have lived in a peculiar time. As I write this the vast majority of scientist on the planet are either entirely ignorant of or barely cognizant of the ramifications related to the growing experimental and theoretical knowledge base called quantum theory.

It is entirely acceptable for scientist in the social sciences to remain entirely ignorant of such incredibly important aspects of quantum mechanics as: entanglement, non-locality, the probabilistic nature of reality, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, MultiVerse Theory, the multi dimensional nature of the MegaVerse as propounded by String Theory, etc.

The discussion began just a little over one hundred years ago. Those few who dared to push past the boundaries of the classical world to reveal the underlying fundamental mechanics of reality discovered a reality so at odds with what people believe to be true, so counter intuitive, that it took most of the twentieth century for their discoveries to be formalized.

The general public has been exposed to snippets of the remarkable findings, and many wonder if any of it really matters at all - aside from the development of thermonuclear weapons, lasers, computer chips, solar cells, nano scale robotics, quantum computers, and artificial intelligence - does any of it matter?

And the answer very much depends upon whether one wants to live in ignorance or one seeks enlightenment based upon scientific research.

I for one am looking to science as a means securing an end to a cycle of war which goes back to the dawn of man.

I'm hoping that science helps to end world poverty, and hunger.

I'm optimistic that science will lead to an end of sickness, and short lifespans.

And I'm praying that knowledge will lead to an end of a world culture based upon ignorance, greed, and selfishness.

Perhaps I'm asking for too much, but we have a choice - we can make a better world through science, or we can devolve into chaos and self destruction. I guess I'm only asking for what is needed to insure a future for mankind, and the path to that future is through science.

Black Orb of Hate

Black Orb of Hate

A Prayer By JeromeProphet

Black Orb of Hate
Embrace me not
Protect me from your minions
And your servants of Evil
The millions which infest your sphere
So dark and untrue.

Black Orb of Hate
As this time and place unravels
May insanity touch me kindly
Blinding those who have betrayed me
Wrenching those who would flay me
Infecting my soul with their madness too.

Black Orb of Hate
Let me run from your darkness
Which has fallen all those others
My transgression driven brothers
Possessed of justifications for their actions
Inciting greed and hate full interactions.

Black Orb of Hate
Set me free from your bondage
Break the shackles which enslave me
From this nightmare called life
From this prison planet of strife
Set me free
From this never ending night.

Our Morning Earth Quake Report

Those unfamiliar may say, from looking at the maps below, that Springfield, Illinois appears very far from the epicenter. And that is true in a California sense, but because of the nature of the bedrock (very solid), and the type of fault (very deep), the energy from this fault travels almost completely undisturbed right from the Wabash fault to our location here in Springfield, Illinois. So it was quite a ride this morning.

Here's what the local newspaper SJ-R has to say:

Updated: 5.4 earthquake rocks Illinois; also felt in Ohio and Indiana

By JAYETTE BOLINSKI
STAFF WRITER

Hundreds of Springfield-area residents were shaken awake this morning when they felt the rumblings of a
5.4-magnitude earthquake centered near West Salem.

No damage and no injuries have been reported here. The trembling, just before 4:37 a.m., lasted about 15 seconds.

Dispatchers at Sangamon County 911 and local police departments received numerous phone calls from residents wondering what was going on or reporting someone was in their home.

911's phone lines temporarily went down after the earthquake, but it was not immediately known if that was a result of the trembling.

The quake was centered 6 miles from West Salem, Ill., and 66 miles from Evansville, Ind.

The quake shook tall buildings in Chicago's Loop, 240 miles north of the epicenter, and in downtown Indianapolis, about 160 miles northeast of the epicenter.

Residents in Cincinnati and St. Louis also reported feeling the earth shake.

"It shook our house where it woke me up," said David Behm of Philo, 10 miles south of Champaign. "Windows were rattling, and you could hear it. The house was shaking inches. For people in central Illinois, this is a big deal. It's not like California."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Earth Quake Hits Southern Illinois!

That was a nice way to be awakened.

Such tremors are common in say southern California, but are rare in Central Illinois.

My experience?

Just the rocking back and forth in bed, until I realized something was going on - and I awoke.

My wife said what's going on?

So I went to the window and looked out.

Nothing.

Then my daughter was like - sp0oked.

Was that an earth quake?

Yes, I believe it was.

So right now everyone is up.

I said, this kind of thing happens a lot in Southern California.

I'd say the orientation of the waves was from south to north.

So I'd place the epicenter in southern Illinois - OMG New Madrid - I wonder how their doing?

It was a fairly big one - due to the long wave - moving the entire mattress back and forth like that.

I'd say anyone close to the epicenter might have some damage.

That's it.

I'm going to check the news now.

Oh, my wife said the last one was back on June 10th, 1986 or 1989.

She doesn't remember which year exactly, but she said she's sure of the day.

I remember that too. I got up so fast during the rocking and rolling that I hurt my thumb.

I thought it was ironic that the news cast said no one was injured, and my thumb had a broken nail and was smarting me for days.

That time I went outside for a walk and looked around. Some minor cracks appears in the building I lived in - and it made me nervous.

O.K. That's my Earth Quake report.

Oh yes, all of our cats seemed somewhat upset by it, but none predicted anything.

U.S. Bush War Economy Unraveling

Screw The Poor! More War!
.
.
The False U.S. Economy Floats On Foreign Debt and Cheap Labor

As the rich get richer, the middle class, and poor in the U.S. get poorer.
We in the middle class might as well bend over and start whistling while the rich, and upper middle class take their pleasures - because we are screwed.

By electing George W. Bush and his Cronies in Congress this is what has resulted. The country has moved from peace and prosperity to non stop war, and economic recession. The nation has moved from a budget surplus to the greatest deficit it has ever seen.

Economic growth during Bush's years in office has been built upon bad loans financed by foreign debt. And now as the false economy of the Bush years unravels we must reap what we have sown - High Oil Prices, Foreclosures, Unemployment, Increasing Debt, and Recession.

U.S. Bush War Economy Unraveling

This from CNN:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Poor and middle-class families are entering the recession in a precarious situation due in part to declining or stagnant income growth, a study released Wednesday has found.

Incomes, on average, have declined by 2.5% among the bottom fifth of families since the late 1990s, while inching up by just 1.3% for those in the middle fifth of households, according to an analysis by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and the Economic Policy Institute, two liberal think tanks.

The wealthiest slice of Americans, however, saw their incomes rise by 9%.

The average income of the bottom fifth of families was $18,116; the middle fifth, $50,434; and the wealthiest fifth, $132,131.

Unlike what happened during the economic boom of the 1990s, lower- and middle-class families did not share in the prosperity of recent years, the report found. In fact, the United States has had its longest jobless recovery and slowest rate of payroll growth during this decade.

"We're worried about the impact of the downturn on the families whose incomes haven't recovered from the last recession," said Jared Bernstein, Economic Policy Institute senior economist and co-author of the report.

Wages have not kept up with inflation, families have loaded up on debt and homeowners have seen the value of their largest asset decline, he said. The situation will only get worse during the economic downturn.

"Families are uniquely economically exposed to the costs of recession," he continued. "As we head into a recession, their incomes will take a further hit."

The income gap between the rich and the rest of the population is widening. In 22 states, the top fifth of families made more than seven times what the poorest fifth took home, according to the report. In the late 1980s, only one state - Louisiana - had such a spread. Meanwhile, in more than two-thirds of the country, the wealthiest saw their income grow more than twice as fast as the middle-class over the past two decades.

State governments, however, can step in and help mitigate this growing inequality and insecurity, said Elizabeth McNichol, a senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and the report's co-author. For instance, they can extend the amount of time workers receive benefits during an economic downturn. Also, they can offer or improve support services, such as child care, health insurance and transportation services.

Governments can also put resources into public services and infrastructure projects, which will help create jobs and stimulate the economy, said James Galbraith, professor at the University of Texas at Austin and income gap specialist. The federal government may also have to funnel more money to the states so they can maintain services at a time when tax revenues may decline.

The study is based on U.S. Census Bureau income data that have been adjusted for inflation, the impact of federal taxes and cash value of government subsidies. It does not factor in capital gains or losses. It compares data from 2004 to 2006 with that of 1987 to 1989 and 1998 to 2000. To top of page
